breast period for cats

What is the breast period for cats?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'breast period'. Do you mean kittens nursing from their mother? Ideally kittens should be with their mother from 8-12 weeks. Kittens have been know to nurse up to a year! In the wild, kittens nurse up to 6 months. I had a kitten that nursed when it was bigger than the mom!

When a kitten starts eating solid food and still nurses, it is a comfort thing....to the mom and to the kitten(s). When a mother cat is tired of it or wants to wean them she will stop the kitten(s) from nursing. A kitten can have psychological problems from being weaned too early, but I've never heard of emotional problems from nursing 'too long'.
