Question
I adopted a mixed 5 month farow Siamese almost 2 months ago.  She's the only cat I have or ever had. She's doing great and have become a domasticated cat.  She still as I call, quite moody and not very social with other people. With me she's loving, affectionate & playful, however, once in awhile she gets a "look" staring at me and then she goes at me and tries to paw me. Usually it is when I lay on the couch and she can come at me from the corner of the couch.  I am concerned becuase she was a farow.  Is she trying to play with me or somehow she it attacking me?

Answer
Hi, Lana.  It sounds like she may be playing.  Ferals usually will not scratch unless you approach them and they feel threatened, so I don't think she's likely to be acting aggressively toward you.  I think she's doing one of two things - playing, or attention seeking.

Whichever it is, the best way to treat it is to put her by herself in a bathroom for 15-30 minutes.  She's trying to get your attention or trying to get you to play, so if you put her in a room and ignore her, she'll learn that swatting at you is the wrong way to go about it.  Make sure not to scold her when she behaves this way - that will be a form of attention and may encourage the behavior.  Most cats begin learning by this method within a couple weeks.
