Question
we have adopted 2 strays.both spayed but the femail is being chased by a whole male stray which has appeared. she does not seem distressed by this but doesnt come home for days. is this normal behaviour is there anything we can do to stop this.  we can keep the cats inside as they are only just used to coming in as always lived outside.

Answer
Roz,

I am afraid, the behavior you are seeing is normal behavior.  However, nothing the male can do can really hurt your stray spay.  If she really did not want his advances, believe me, she could fend him off, if she wanted to.  There really is nothing much you can do, as you have already surmised, except converting them to inside cats.

If it is possible to keep your cats inside, their chances of living longer are much improved.  However, if they have been outside cats all their lives, it is difficult to convert them to inside only.

Best regards... Norm.
