kitten think he has worms

i have found  a very small cream colored wiggly thing {about the size of a grain of rice} on my kittens bottom. he has a slightly swollen tummy and has runny toilet for 3 days. he has an appointment tomorrow at the vets. is this worms? and is it harmful to my children? can the children still play with him? i am very worried. thank you

It is worms but your vet will take care of it. You should keep the children from getting the worms and probably keep them away from the cats litterbox during the deworming process. Your vet will tell you what kind of worms they are, and then be able to tell you exactly what precautions to take, and your vet will medicate the kitten. Once the medication course is completed, provided you keep the cat always indoors, you will not see the problem again.
