Im concerned about the delay of the last born kitten

Question
Hello,
This is my cats first litter. The 1st 3 kittens were born about 30 min. apart. Then 2 more were born about 2 hours later which were also 30 min. apart, but then 5 hours later another kitten was born. Is this normal or should I be worried?

Answer
Natalie,

Don't worry, that is perfectly normal. Kittens can have different fathers (which is why they don't always look or act alike) and if the last tom bred her at the end of the cycle that kitten can be born later, even 24 hours later! I had a litter one time that one of the kittens had a different birthday, it was born the next day!

As long as the kittens and mother are happy and healthy then there is nothing to be concerned about....EXCEPT....the mother cat can come into heat and get pregnant again 48 hours to two weeks after giving birth! You may want to consider getting her spayed as soon as the babies are weaned (about 8 weeks old).
