cats in heat and urinating

I have a 8 month old cat that was using the litter pan but when she's in heat she goes where ever she wants to. Is this normal? Thank you for your time,

Hi Dawn,

This is not normal but it can happen. She may be marking her territory to attract a Tom. Basically she is advertising that she is ready, willing and able. The easiest way to stop this is to get her spayed. I highly recommend that you do this. Good luck.
