cloudy water in tank

Question
do you have any idea what would cause a tank to become cloudy after water changes... change the filter, water looks really cloudy if you look through the side of tank but not as bad if you are looking directly at it.          HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
You are most likely experiencing a bacterial bloom.  This will happen from time to time whenever there is a small spike in your organic load.  What probably set this one off is the water change and filter change.  When you changed the filter you removed some of your biological filter.  In the future try to clean your filter the week before or after your water changes.  This should prevent futher issues.

Protein skimmers and UV sterilizers in your filtration system will help prevent these from occurring also.

Best of luck with your tank!
