Fugu puffer fish

Question
I purchased my fugu puffer locally. The pet store said he was a freshwater fish. After research I now have my water at .21-.23.  My question is "can I put another fish with my fugu puffer". My tank is 20 gallons with 2 marineland 150 filters. My fugu puffer is about 4 inches long. Thanks for your help

Answer
the rules for stocking a saltwater tank are much different than a freshwater tank. your 4 inch puffer is much too large for a 20 gallon tank, i would suggest getting a 30 gallon at least if not a 40 gallon as i am sure it is not done growing as of yet. so in other words i would not suggest adding another fish until you upgrade you tank. there is no set equation on the inches of fish per tank it just never works. just find a fish you ant, research it and see if you can accommodate it.

also i would look into getting a sump or a fuge, a filtration system placed under the aquarium and gets water via overflow. it is not a canister filter it is like another tank that adds total volume to the tank and therefore stabilizes the system further. this is the best filtration system for a long term marine aquarium.

hope this helps!
