above ground pond

Question
hello,
 instead of digging a pond, i would like to buy one of those plastic
liners they have @ home depot, lowes, etc. I would then like tp
build up around it with rocks and shrubs, etc. I do not want to do
any digging. Is this possible? Aslo, what is the best size of one of
these liners to keep a few koi? I know they need a lot of space. Do
you know any websites that have good designs or direction? thanks

Hi Andrew,
Thanx for your question.  Yes, you can make an above ground pond.  Bear in mind that if you have cold winters that cause the waters to freeze you should bring your fish indoors so they won't suffocate under a sheet of ice.  I don't recommend putting koi in the small ponds.  It isn't fair to them and they will not be happy in such a small place.  Or just put them in while they're small and remove them when they get too big.  There are a lot of attractive types of gold fish you can use.  I wouldn't go less than 50 gallons.  I know that seems rather large for an above ground container but if you want fish that's the way I would go.  I haven't looked at any pond websites lately but what I would suggest is doing a Google search for pond designs or watergardening info.  Google.com (in case you're not familiar with this popular search engine.).  I hope this helps.
