Cleaning out a very large pond

Question
I would like to clean out a very large fresh and salt water pond.It has a lot of debris in it as well a muck at the bottom of the pond. It is an old fish pond, lined with large stones. I think it has an underwater spring with both fresh and salt water coming in. It is not too far from the ocean. I would like to restore it and put some fish in it. Do you have any suggestion on how to do this? Is there a way I can pump out the water to get to the muck underneath? I think the springs are clogged because of this. Do you think activated charcoal can help get out the discoloration? Also what kind of fish and aquatic plants could I put in the pond?

Any advice would be helpful?

Answer
Hi Neri,

I believe that the best way to clean up your pond would be by dredging out the water and the muck at the same time.
To do this, you should rent the proper equipment.
This dredges are used to harvest sand from river bottoms.
It is a heavy piece of equipment that would require some logistics to use.
Activated charcoal would not help if the source of the problem went unsolved.
Regarding the fish, after the pond was cleaned, you should test the water for its salt content, and then add the proper fish and plants.

If you could send me pictures of the place, I think I could give you a better idea.

If you want, I could even do the work for you.
