Question
Hi there, we just re-did our pond, and our fish have been in a blow-up pool for about 2 weeks. How long do we have to wait until we can put our fish back into the pond?  How should we do this? Should the water in the pool now, go into the pond also? Should we get the fish used to the water in the pond by placing them in bags, then placing the bag in the pond? Thank youuu!

Answer
Hello Lindsey!
First make sure that a) the pH in the pond has been adjusted and b) the chlorine has been removed.
After those steps, the most important factor is that the water temperature in the pond and the container with the fish is about the same.
Stop feeding the fish about 3 days before the move and do not feed for about 1 week after the move. Add some beneficial bacteria to the pond to get the colony started and then start feeding very slowly after about 1 week.
This will give the pond time to develop a bacterial colony sufficient to deal with the fish waste.
