THE GFI TURNS FOUNTAIN OFF AFTER 20 MINUTES

Question
The GFI continues to be set off and turns the fountain off, I reset it and it works again for another 20 minutes.  The pump is about a year old and the pond hasnt been cleaned for 3 years.  Is it possble a fish or frog stuck in the system?

Hello Anita!
While it is possible that something is stuck in there, it is too dangerous to run a pump that keeps tripping the GFI. Chances are a seal inside the pump is broken and the pump is shorting out. Electricity and water in combination must be handled with great care. It is best to replace the pump before someone gets hurt. Maybe it's still under warranty?
