Lilly Pad Roots

Question
I recently removed my Lilly from a large pot in my pond. It was very root bound, but had few lilly's.

Can a lilly with it's root, float on the water, or myst it be planted? If so, do I thin the roots?

First year ponder, but I want to learn all I can.

Answer
Hi Hippy
The Water Lilly should be planted.
Take the best tubers and replant them. You can usually make several new Water Lilies out of one mature one.
Take great care not to injure the growing tip of each tuber as the Water Lily will die if that happens.
Water Lilies are heavy feeders and will bloom best if fed a good aquatic fertilizer once a month.
