Question
QUESTION: Dear Karen
I have 2 angels, 4 tetras, 2 bottom feeders and one catfish. One my angels got mouth fungus (it can't close its mouth, can't eat, breath hard, looks like its loosing one side of lower lip while another side is getting thick)  3 days ago, so I bought API fungus cure(mouth fungus). once I added to my tank, the bottom feeders and cat fish wanted to jump out of water, and after a day they still are shaking and sometime want to jump out. besides, non of them have eaten after I added the medicine. should I go for the second dose?( every 48 hours)if not what is the best medication? please help me out.

ANSWER: Hi Amir,
Poor things. I would keep trying with the medication. But I would also change 50% of the water every single day (making sure the new water is conditioned with a good water conditioner and equal in temp or a bit warmer) and just redose the medication after the water change. I know this is against most medication instructions but the ingredients in medication breaks down in a short time period anyway and also wastes in your tank can deactivate the medication also so water changes are essential.

If you think the medication is stressing them out too much you may want to switch. I have used Jungle Brand's Fungus Clear with amazing success everytime. I use the same treatment routine with everyday 50% water changes and redosing the med.

Mouth fungus is quite a bad disease, it can be hard to treat.
I hope all goes well!
Karen~

QUESTION: Dear Karen
All of them died tonight within a couple of hours. please tell every body, DO NOT BY API products, they make poison instead of medicine. I am really sad.
take care

Answer
Hi Amri,
Poor fish. I'm very very sorry to hear that.

Probably what happened is the disease was too hard on them and it was too late. I know mouth fungus can kill very quickly and is difficult to treat.

Sorry again for your loss...
Take care,
Karen~
