Question
i have a 6 yr severin growing a white fuzzy film.
the other fish is fine. what is it and how do i treat it

Answer
Hi Dawn;

It could be fungus or bacteria, usually started by injury and/or dirty water. Go to your local fish store and find a remedy that has the description of your fish's disease listed on the package of medicine. Without actually seeing the fish I can't say whether it is fungus or bacteria. They look similar sometimes. Aquarium salt is also helpful in fighting disease and helping the fish fight stress as well.

Be sure to keep the tank clean and also make sure there is enough room and hiding places for fish that could be bullied. Injuries caused in terretorial disputes can easily become infected.
