Budgie cage

I have a question about cage setup....is the sheet of gravel paper for the bottom of the cage needed.I have been using them along with gravel,but I never see the birds on the bottom of the cage.What is it's purpose or can I discontinue using it?

Hi Susan!

I wouldn't use any kind of rough material for the bottom of a budgie's cage. I personally use corncob litter. You can buy it at any pet store, and even at Walmart. It's inexpensive and easy to use. You can also use paper.
