Thank you for your question.  The amount of protein found in any hay depends entirely on what stage of maturity the plants were cut at and the associated growing conditions.  To give you a best case example, the NRC estimates the CP of a mid-maturity grass hay to be 13.3% and the CP of a mid-maturity legume hay to be 20.8%.
