Question
hello, looking at the horse poop, how can i say that a horse is suffering from colic or any other disease except dehydration.

Answer
Hi Rohit,

Thank you for your question.  The physical experience of manure is not always a clear indicator of disease or illness...except when the horse has diarrhea.  But diarrhea is a symptom of a few metabolic disorders so it would be difficult to use liquid manure to diagnose illness.  I use what I call the 'Poop Test' as an indication of pending dehydration...which may or may not cause your horse to suffer from impaction colic.  For me, it's more of a nutrition diagnostic tool.

Thanks, Corlena
