Colt feeding schedule

Georgie, Hi! I have a 6 week old colt. She has started to eat grass and hay. She is healthily nursing. When should I begin to feed her grain or additional supplement? What kind should it be and how much? I would appreciate any help you could give me, thank you.

I never got to know what to do about foals because mine died a little after he was born so I'm not really sure. But I wouldn't start feeding her grain until you start to train and breack her. If you did say that she is nursing healthily and is starting to eat grass and hay then I would wait until I started training her. I don't know what you are going to use her for (showing, working, trails, kids) but you should base that on what your going to feed her. If you want to use a follow up and tell me what your going to use her for when she gets older then I could give you a idea on what kind of grain you should feed her.
