Question
hi there, im not sure if you can answer my question because it is quite hard to explain, but your best will be great,
i just have a one yr old QH filly, who is starting to lose her teeth (i have been round horses my hole life but havent seen this) she is loseing her right mid and right next to that,(thought they were ment to lose mids 1st) but it has been couple of months and it still hasnt come out, and also(this is the bit hard to explain) she seems to have like a black cap behind the tooth and it is starting to smell. other people have told me to pull it but i cant get it, any idears? also her bottom teeth are starting to wear the roof of her mouth, only were the tooth is lose, thankyou for your time

Answer
hi kahla,
best thing to do is have an equine dentist come out to pull it. he may have to wire her mouth to keep the teeth from falling out. since it is smelling then it is probable infected. my old filly slammed her jaw once and cracked it. it knocked one out completely. the vet had to wire it so the others didn't fall out. so the best thing to do is have a dentist come out and pull the tooth and check the others to make sure they are forming right. and they possible need to be floated. sorry i could not help you more. best of luck to you keep me updated.
