QuestionI am looking for a breeder of cherry headed tortoises, rescue or if someone is looking/needing to rehome one. I have been keeping russians for about 10 years. I would like to try a redfoot esp a cherry head. Not in the same enclosure of course.
AnswerCool- if they have a spare, let me know!
Seriously, the best way to find this is to hang out in places like http://www.turtleforum.com and see if anyone posts having one to adopt. I have to say I have never seen a true cherry head that way, but I did get a nice Red-foot that way recently.
I understand that you would not us the same enclosure, but I hope you understand that the care for a Red-foot is like apples and oranges to the Russians- bigger animal, they need meat and fruit in the diet, moderate temps in the 80's with as close to 100% humidity as you can get, etc.
Otherwise, good luck! When the various adoption programs I know of (www.turtlehomes.org, www.tortoise.org, etc.) get Red-foots, they tend to go quickly, and tend to be full-size adults.
