Red ear slider, Pregnant?

Question
Hi, i have 2 red eared slider turtles, one female and one male. They have grown up together, and are each a little over 3 years old. I keep them in a 45 gallon tank with a large area for swimming and some areas for basking. They have a lot of pebbles in the tank for digging. My female has been acting different lately. Not eating as much and digging alot. She is extremely protective over the spot she has been digging in.  Also she has been basking alot more. Finally she has been gaining weight but not eating that much, which i find strange. If she is pregnant what do i do in preparation for her eggs? And how do i care for her eggs? do i keep her with the eggs and with the male? PLEASE, WRITE BACK! thanks, Andrew.

Answer
Hello To answer your question, it would sound as sheis gravid aka eggs.
If you are going to allow her to lay the eggs you need to give her an area that is dirt that she can dig and she can lay hte eggs. once that is done she will pack them in and then they will be fine,.
As far as the male, and female, red ear slidders are becoming illegal to posess witout a permit in several states and breeding them can cause more population issues. Please be wise regarding hatchng the eggs.
