Question
So hard to find information on the Internet - thank you if you can help me! I rescued an infant red slider about 9 months ago  - until about 4 to 5 weeks ago - he swam - basked - and would rush to the glass to be fed - he is in a 40 gal tank - so plenty y of room - he used to be very hungry - now he hides - he basks and when I put a variety of food in the tank - he acts interested but almost seems to weak to get to it - let alone eat - the local pet store - told me it is winter and he is hibernating - I bought that t for a while - but he seems weak - he has the uva light - the basking light etc - the best that money can buy - is he sick or is this normal for a winter season - many thanks I am worried sick!

Answer
Hello it is not uncommon for them to slow down during winter HOWEVER this sounds like more than that and I would highly recommend a visit to  the vet to be sure that there is not an underlying issue. They will need to be sure he doesnt have pneumonia which will make them not want to eat.

Please let me know the temps that you are keeping the  water at
