Question
QUESTION: IO HAVE A PET BUNNY RABBIT FOR SOME TIME NOW, I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND SHE IS, BUT MY QUESTIONS IS MY GIRL FRIEND GAVE MY BUNNY A BATH ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AND I NOTICED A FEW DAYS LATER THAT HER BACK RIGHT LEG WAS STICKING OUT FROM HER SIDE LIKE A KICK STAND ON A BIKE AND WHEN SHE HOPS SHE DOES NOT USE IT AT ALL BUT MORE LIKE SHE DRAGS IT!!! IS IT BROKE ?PLEASE HELP ME!!CAN IT BE FIXED???HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANSWER: Dear David,

Your girlfriend must have not been very careful when giving that bath, or the bunny may have injured himself afterwards, but it sounds very much like a broken leg.  Whether it can be fixed or not (Why did you wait two weeks to ask about this?  If you had a broken leg, I'm sure you'd be in the emergency room in a heartbeat!) depends on the severity of the break and several other aspects.  If the break is too severe to heal, amputation may be an option.

Only a good rabbit vet will be able to tell you this, and you must get your bunny to one immediately.  Please find a good rabbit vet here:

I hope this helps, and that your bunny will be well soon.

QUESTION: I LIVE OUT BY PALM SPRINGS CA, 92260("CAN YOU SUGGEST ONE OR HELP ME FIND ONE CAUSE I HAVE THE FOGGEST IDEA ON HOW!! I FEEL STUPID!! CAN YOU HELP ME ON FINDING ONE IN MY AREA???PLEASE????????????????

Answer
Dear David,

I don't see any listings in Palm Springs.  But if you're willing to make a drive, then there are some excellent rabbit vets in San Diego.  You can find their listings here:

http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/health/vetlist.html

If you call one or more of the vets on that list, they may be able to refer you to someone even closer to you--or perhaps even in Palm Springs.

Another option is to check your local yellow pages and look for veterinarians who advertise that they treat exotics.  Call up to ask if anyone there is an *expert* in rabbit veterinary medicine, and you may get lucky.

I hope this helps.
