litter training a rabbit

Question
I just got 2 new young bunnies and I wanted to try to litter train them, I was wondering if regular cat litter is ok to use for rabbits, and if not what should I use? Also, one of the bunnies has flakey skin, and I was wondering what I could use to get rid of the dry skin?

Answer
Dear Ashley,

For litterbox training tips, please go here:

But note that success will be very limited until the bunnies are spayed/neutered:

Clay cat litters are not recommended.  We find that the best litter is pelleted sawdust (NOT shavings!) such as Feline Pine or just plain old wood stove pellets (or horse bedding from a feed store) from Home Depot.  They absorb odor and moisture, and make great compost.  Put a bit of soft hay over it, if the bunnies don't like to stand on it, and you're all set.

Hope this helps.
