Micro mini piglets legs make a cracking noise every now and again!

Question
I just very recently purchased a 7 week old micro mini piglet, Orville. He really is sweet and darling but his little legs seem to make a "cracking" noise (similar to when you crack your knuckles) every now and again. He doesn't seem to be in any pain what so ever, doesn't cry about it and is extremely calm. I was wondering if this is normal or is it something I should worry about?

Answer
No, this is not normal. I am not a veterinarian, and can not make a medical diagnosis over the internet. My Veterinary Care book makes no mention of this.

Hip/shoulder displaysia is not very common in pigs, but it does happen. Because this doesn't bother your piglet, I would not panic. But, I would consider consulting a veterinarian and getting x-rays. The x-rays will at least show what you are dealing with. For example if a joint is not right you may want to make sure your piggy always uses a ramp instead of stairs, and never, ever jumps on furniture to prevent a problem. Your vet can also tell you what warning signs to look for if the problem gets worse. Surgery is available to fix joint problems, but early detection and preventive steps may be enough to solve the problem.
