Lili is walking odd.

Question
I've had Penni and Lili for almost 2 years now. They're both active and wonderful. But since yeaterday, Lili has been walking odd. When I walk up to the cage, she usually runs up to the door, which is always open because they like to climb on the shelves next to their cage. Yesterday, she walked out, took a step or 2 back, a few forward, and then a few back until she got up to the door. She did the same today, and today when I tried to pick her up, she squeaked, then turned around and gave me a little nibble to let me know I was hurting her. She'll let me pet her on her head, but when I start to scratch toward her back area, she squeaks. She's eating and drinking the same, and Penni seems to be just fine. I don't think it's ear infection, I use Cell-Sorb bedding, and they occupy the top half of a Ferret Nation cage. I feed them a mix of lab blocks and Reggie Rat, oatmeal with baby food as a breakfast sanck, and a mix of chick peas, green peas, lima beans, and kidney beans with a few cubes of tofu at night. They also get the occasional mealworm to snack on. Could she be constipated?

Answer
Hi Amber

You asked if she could be constipated but did not mention if she is passing stools normally or if her stools are dry. I am assuming she uses a litter pan if she is in a ferret nation. Have you noticed any stools that were dried out or white or gray looking?

Also, do you think she was a bit hesitant to leave the cage? How does she climb out of the ferret nation? Do you lift her out or does she climb down on the bars?

I have one myself and 4 males share the entire cage (Its a 142) so I know how big it is. I constructed a way for them to climb out safely from the bottom level with ease so I dont worry about them having to climb and possibly  fall.

I only ask this because I  was wondering if perhaps she was hesitant about coming out of the cage for a reason  or has she taken a fall recently from anything?
How does the skin on her back around her spine look? Is there any redness or swelling?

Please let me know during a follow up. thanks
