baytril oral medication

Question
have a sick male rat of unknown age as he was found wandering the street 6
mths ago. Symptoms servere rasping noise, evident past week when sleeping
and awake and increased  restlessness and respiration rate. Vet commenced
on oral baytril yesterday. 0.1ml once a day. Should I increase medication to
twice a day . Its only been 24  hrs but he seems to be getting worse and is not
fussed about food tonight. Should I advise  vet to combine an other AB  with
Baytril. He wt is 500g and we use metric in Australia. many thanks, Donna

Do not increase his Medicine, It could kill him. Talk to your vet about another medicine and see what they say. If your rat was found on the street chances of him living is slim to none but you can try another medication. You can also ask your vet about a Nebulizer treatment to help with the rats breathing.
