Introducing new rats!

Question
Hi..I have had over 20 pet rats in my life!  I LOVE them!  However, the ones that I have always had were either related or bought together.  Yesterday, I had the opportunity of getting my first hairless rat, however, he was all alone.  He is precious and still pretty young and I want to get him a friend because I know he needs one. I am currently looking for another one in my area.  My question is, after I get a second one, how can they be introduced to one another?  I have never had to do that before!  Thanks so much!

Answer
Be sure to get a rat around the same size and age as him. Introduction need to be taken rather slow and steady. First have them meet between cage bars and keep the two cages next to eat other for a few days. Next let them meet in a neutral area, such as on your bed or in the bath tub. If they are introduced where on rat is territorial, such as the cage, they may fight. After a few days if the Neutral area intros go good, try putting them in the same cage. If they fight a little its okay they are most likely just establishing who is boss and it will generally end fast.

Good Luck!
