Mouse with Skin Problem HELP

21 15:32:53

Question
My pet mouse has a patch that looks like dandruff or psoriasis or something similar. He has a rough patch that I can pick out chuncks of whitish flake from under his fur, and it's appearing in a couple spots now. It's not a scab and doesn't seem to be overly itchy to him...I can pick it off and he doesn't squeek? What could it be? What could I do to home medicate him. He eats well, runs, and all pertinent is fine as well. Please help.

Answer
Dear Chris,

Your mouse very likely has mites.  If you take him to a vet you can be sure, since your vet can test a skin sample to find out the cause, and your vet might give you an easy way to treat the mouse.  However if a vet visit isn't in the cards, follow the instructions I gave this person, and you'll probably solve the problem:

If it doesn't help then the mouse should see a vet to make sure he doesn't have a fungus or other more difficult problem.

Best of luck.
