Question
Hello, I have a 3 month old malti-poo who is a burst of energy and is cute as a button. For a month now we have been trying to potty train him on the pads, I know Ive made tons of mistakes like ; ( sticking his nose in it) now i feel he is scared to go potty infront of me. He still wont poo on the pad, he sneaks away and does it where no one can see him. I trained him on pads because sometimes i am at school for 4 hours and no one is home, I need to know is there still a chance i can train him to potty outside even while i go to school for a few hours...or does he needs to go out every hour?

Answer
Hello Franca:

Yes you can leave your puppy at three months for approx 3 hours, then general rule of thumb is one hour for each month of age, upto 6 Hrs IE: 6 Months.

When using a pad, it often takes longer to train to go outside.

Use plenlty of Praise and treats to reward correct places and ignore wrong, just clean properly and make sure you ahve removed all scent.

I highly suggest Crate Training.
