Mental Cocker?

Question
Our 10 year old cocker spaniel woke up yesterday with a few terrifying yelps and a crazed look in her eyes. She was sleeping in our bed, and when I moved to get up she started yelping and snapping at me, then jumped off the bed, ran straight to the bathroom and laid down. Our 3 y.o. daughter said that Scooby Doo, which we were watching, scared her :). Since then, she's been very skittish, especially around me. A couple of times, I went to pet her and she was fine for a few seconds, then she started whining/yelping like she was hurt and ran off in sort of a confused state. Up until yesterday, she's always been very energetic, great around me and the kids and always excited when I come home from work. Today, however, she paid me no attention when I got home, although she hasn't been as skittish as yesterday. Could something have snapped in her that quickly? At first I thought I hurt her when I moved, but she isn't favoring her legs or any other parts of her body.

Thanks,
Robert

Answer
Well, Robert, the short answer is no - nothing mentally could have "snapped" that quickly.

Is she eating normally?  How is she with everyone else?
Have things eased up today?

At age 10 she's a senior so anything out of the ordinary indicates a vet visit.  At this point perhaps just a phone chat with your vet would do it if it seems to be passing.
But a sudden change in behavior should always be taken seriously.

But senior dogs can develop the doggie version of human "senior moments" and if that's the case there is a medication called Anipryl which is very effective.

However, many holistic vets - Dr. Shawn Mesionnier in particular - believe that most seniors should be on a supplement called Cholodin R which is totally safe and does just as good a job as Anipryl for a fraction of the price.

If this were my dog, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try.
You can order it at EntirelyPets.com - just go there and type Cholodin R in their "search box" and read up on it.
