Question
QUESTION: I HAVE A 4YR OLD MALE NEUTERED BROWN AND WHITE COCKER SPANIEL, HE HAS HAD THESE WHITE SCALE LIKE BUMPS FOR 2 YEARS NOW, WHEN YOU REMOVE THE WHITE SCALE IT IS A RED BUMP UNDER IT.  DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE?

ANSWER: Hi Lisa,
I too have brown & white males:)

I have some questions.
1.  Is his coat & skin good otherwise?
2.  What are you feeding?
3.  Has your vet looked at these "bumps"?
4.  What happens after you remove the white scale?
5.  How are you treating this topically?
6.  Does he have any chronic ear problems?

QUESTION: COAT IS KING OF DULL, I USE UNIVERSAL MEDICATED SHAMPOO, HE IS ON DUCK & POTATO, YES THE VET HAS SEEN IT AND WANTS TO BIOPSY BUT THE LOCATION ARE HARD THE FEW HE HAS KNOW ARE ON THE SPINE, WHEN I REMOVE THE SCALE IT IS A RED BUMP, NO SMELL, NO EAR INFECTION, I USING DOLIXO PADS ONLY, BUT WHEN ONE IS CLEARED UP 2 OR 3 MORE POP OUT.

Answer
When you say "Duck & Potato" I'm assuming it's Natural Balance?  I've never heard of Universal Shampoo.  Is this something your vet gave you?

Has your vet taken some skin cells by "tape or scrape" and analyzed them?  Has he tried aspirating a bump?  The problem is to figure out if this is bacterial or yeast.

You're feeding an inferior food and I'd strongly advise changing that.  The cream of the crop these days is the "raw, dehydrated" food like Addiction or Sojo's Complete.  But at the very least I'd go for Innova EVO or Orijen.

I do need to know what happens after you remove the scale - it's a red bump - then what happens?
Does it go away?  And what are "Dolixo pads?"
