7 week old puppy

Question
I found a flea on my 7 week old bichon puppy.  I rubbed him down with dawn and water.  I can't seem to find anymore  I washed his bedding and treated the carpet and couch.  What's next?  He is on a three day treatment for worms and after that I have to start him on Albon as a puppy in the litter tested positive.  The vet said his tummy is destended.  I am already in love with this dog so I'm not asking for my $500.00 back.  I don't know much about breeding but thought that since the parents had papers-shame on me.  Anyway, what is my next step for the flea problem-also he scratches his right ear-there is some brown inside-going back to the vet  Thank you

Answer
Hiya Karen
Sadly this is typical of a poor breeder, papers are not a mark of quality just an indication that both parents are registered.
The pup has worms and this is being treated, worms can be caused by flea larvae , as such eventhough the worms are being treated the flea problem must also be treated and I can assure you that if you have found 1 there are a few others lurking about just waiting to say Hi there !
Use either Bob Matin Spot On , or FRontline, in your case its probably better to use frontline .
I would also use what is called a flea bomb available online and from most pet stores to use within the household, it will erradicate all fleas immediately, but follow instructions carefully.
the ear problem is likely to be ear mites, You must treat this immediately , purchase a specific ear mite lotion from the pet store and use daily, for a natural approach use olive oil and lavender oil and add into ear canal twice daily. Clean ears each time with cotton wool and this will also remove ear mites.
We make a product that I can ship to you called Ch-Ears specifically designed to stop ear mites and also to assist you with grooming the inner ears , to read more about our product please log into my bichon health site and g to search box type in ch-ears.
www.eurobichons.com
You can also pay for the product there too. Postage to USA is 15USD.
On site we also have tutorials on how to remove inner ear hairs and how to keep ears healthy and free from ear mites.

Good luck with this little one and I would be asking for money back from this breeder to assist with the vet bills.
