Question
For the second time in a week our 3 year old male is acting very strangely. After his walk this morning upon returning home,he is making small yelping noises and he seems to want something from my wife ,who does the morning walk. He did poop. She walked him again but he is the same. This happened a week ago and we took him to an emergency vet and they couldn't find anything. He has not been nuetered and never been bred, and he won't be. Could this be reaction to a dog in heat in the area? This aggitation is not normal for him.  Thanks

Answer
Yes it could be but it could be alot of things. I take it the vet examined his rear legs for slipping patella or cruciate ligament tears etc, his testicles to ensure they had both descended, his groin to ensure no muscle tears etc. If all was done and nothing turned up then he is just wanting his wicked way with a heat female in the area if there is one .

If this is the case he will start to display humping possibly or wanting to go more walkies and he will lead the way in direction of heat bitch in the locality. It will last for about 23 days then hey he will simply forget until his next smell of heat bitch. There is really noting that can be done, not even neutering stops it completely but will help in part by reducing the urge to mate. Remembering that even-though he has lost his tackle he will and can still have sexual relations .The difference being no pups at the end.
