Question
I am seeking a Bichon Frise puppy.  I found a family in our area who own a female and a male. They have had puppies who are now 4 weeks old.  I went to visit today for the first time and found out that the while the mom is a bichon frise, the father is a bichon bolognese.  Would these puppies be considered a mixed breed or a full breed?  Can they have AKC papers?  Should this mixture concern me at all.  We just want a great pet for our 8 and 5 year old daughters.  We do not plan to ever breed our dog. At this point, I have given this family a $100 deposit and they have promised "papers" will be provided for the puppy.  This is the third and final litter that these two will have.  Should I ask for a reference from a previous litter?  What kind of coat will this mixture produce?  Thank you.

Answer
Hiya Stephanie
these are a mixed breed and as such cannot hold AKC papers.
the dog will be a barker as Bolognese are reknowned barkers , they will lean towards the more naughty as Bolognese mature less quickly than a Frise, the Frise side will be a tad naughty and nibble at wires etc. Frise are terriers and that comes with lots of misbehaviour, sometimes poor toilet training and energy lots of it.
These will make great pets if controlled well by the breeder and will be a very loving little doggy.
I have both breeds and will help you, if you need advice before hand please log into my website www.versailles-kennels.co.uk and download and print off all the new puppy material, it will help you so much.

Good luck
