Bichon Frise hard to potty train?

19 15:17:44

Question
I love the Bichon, they are so friendly, and I've been thinking about in the near future buying one. The only negitive thing that I've heard is that they are hard to housetrain. Is this so? And are they lap dogs? Also, are they a high maintance dog? I mean grooming mostly. About what price range can I expect to pay for a quality AKC reg. Bichon Frise? Please reply.

Answer
Beth,
I do not believe that any dog is truely hard to potty train if you do it properly and you keep with it. The bichon is very much a lap dog. They like to be with you at all times of the day. Bichon's are a very high maintance dog due to their curly coat they need to be brushed at least once a day so their hair does not get tangled. Bichon's price range can be anywhere from $200-$500. You should call directly to the AKC facility and ask them for some local breeders. Their website is http://www.americankennelclub.com/index.cfm You can find information there. GOOD LUCK!
