Always hungry

Question
Hi, My bichon frise is always hungry.  She is 2 years old and weighs 10-11 lbs.  She is fed about 1/2 cup of food around 6:30 am and then again at 5:30 pm.  By 5:30 am she is dying to be fed but I make her wait until at least 6:30 am.  About 3:30 pm she becomes very agitated by barking, whining and wanting attention, but I make her wait until 5:30 pm.  She is eating 1/4 cup of Kibble and 1/4 cup of Natural Balance in the morning as well as in the evening.  She will do anything for more food at any time.  Besides the food issue she is a perfectly happy and darling dog!  Can you help me?
Thank you!
Karen

Answer
Hi I suggest that if the guideline on the food you are using is being followed then she is just using this to gain attention, or the food is not quality enough and she is genuinely hungry. May I suggest that you feed her a bone occasionally as this will do more than you think, firstly it will make her stools firmer and help keep her anal gland functioning well, secondly it will prevent teth decay a common factor with dried foods and also it will stop her from becoming bored.
Type of bones that they can have
1) Always raw
2)Marrow bones
3) Lamb rib bones
4) Chicken wing
5)Beef bones

would also suggest that you occasionally give her the following

Apple, pear, salmon, white meats, green vegetables like peas, broccolli (little only), carrots, green beans, cucumber, bones as above.

Hope this helps

I also suggest she is wormed to ensure she is ok, but with a weight like she has I think this is not the problem.
