growls, but obeys commands?

Question
We have a 7 year old lab/husky mix. Our problem is he is now always growling at us. He will growl at almost any situation. If we ask him if he wants a cookie, when we tell him to come to put his leash for walks, when we give him any commands. For instance if we want him to move away from the door we tell him move, he will growl, usually move, but if not then we physically him move, we get a quick loud bark at us.

He dose obey our commands (sort of), like if he is at the top of the stairs, I tell him to come, the growling starts, he slowly get ups, then I have to say it again, he growls louder, then slowly starts to come down the stairs. Sometimes he will stop, then I give a firm Come, very loud growls, and even salivating. But he will eventually come, then sit like I tell him to. Sometimes after a long "fight" like this I will be  tell him to go lie down , he will hide under the table and start shaking.

Sometimes I have tried to dominate him by grabbing him bye the back of the neck, and pinning him down till he  is calm. This doesn't really work, my  point here is that he never tries to bite, or attack me, even when I get physical, when he is in this mind set.

Things about Rocky, he is still intact, he also suffers from separation anxiety, very high energy and excitable dog(he goes crazy when we pull the leash out, or come home after going to the store for 5 mins.) and he is a barker. (when ever he is in the house, and some one come to the door, or if left alone, outside wants to come back in, and especially when a family member arrives home. constant barking) He also will wag his tail, very excited, like when we offer him a treat, but he growls, and his eras are down. I'm so confused.

Finally, we have a 6 month old in the house, I want to know how we should approach this. As it stands, I am not consearned with him bitting anyone. Like I said, he has had many chances to bite me, but never has. We just want the growling to stop, and our old "Puppy Chow" back. (or nickname we use to call him, when he was very good, he would be so happy and excited when we call him this. Now as you guessed he growls when we call him this.)

Answer
A growl is a BITE waiting to happen and under NO circumstances should your infant be allowed to interact with this dog.  Although it is unlikely the dog will bite the baby, you can't take the smallest chance.  When any dog suddenly demonstrates an unusual behavior, especially one involving aggression, a full veterinary checkup is absolutely mandatory.  Although your dog is showing some signs of rank opportunism, I very much doubt this is the case.  I suspect a seizure disorder or some cognitive dysfunction.  If your veterinarian is not adept at diagnosing, find one who is.  Have a full blood chemistry done, an orthopedic checkup and a neurological examination.  My educated guess is that your dog is suffering from a physical or neurological illness.  Please repost when tests are completed.
