Question
I am desperate need of help, meatball my bulldog woke me up in mid-morning freaking out in his cage woke up from his sleep.  He tore up the metal cage so much that is nearly collasped in a matter of seconds before I could help. Something must have spooked him in a dream or otherwise, but now he wants nothing to do with his once beloved area of his own, he starts breathing heavily (almost hyperventaling) and wont sleep or look near that area.

Answer
Poor guy!

Maybe he was bitten by something while he was sleeping? Look him over for any sign of bites.

Move his area for now, check for any evidence of infestation, clean it well with something enzymatic (if it smells different-to him it may be different) and you may want to get a new crate if he has damaged that one.

Then gradually reintroduce it by putting his food bowl in that area or tossing high value treats into it. Most important though, until he is feeling much calmer about it, don't force him!
