strange behavior in mini schnauzer

Question
My 2 yr old, male miniature schnauzer will suddenly start panting heavily and running nervously around the room, then jumping up at either my husband or myself... Is he hearing something or sensing something that I don't or what do you think it might be?  At first I thought he just needed to go out, but that hasn't been the case.  I would appreciate any thoughts you may have. Thanks.

Answer
Your dog may be reacting to pain or may be having low level temporal lobe seizures.  Take this behavior to the veterinarian ASAP for a full blood chemistry, orthopedic check and a neurological evaluation.  Let's be certain the dog is in good health.  While doing this, think about the first time the dog began this behavior.  What time of day was it; what was going on inside and outside; can you think of anything (no matter how small to you) that may have set it off the first time?  Does this occur around the same time of day?  How many times has the dog done it?  Does it happen every day?  If your dog's health checks out (seizure disorders are VERY DIFFICULT to diagnose and if that's what it is, the dog will develop further aberrant behaviors) we will approach it behaviorally.  Repost with answers to questions after the dog's checkup.
