Question
I am thinking about adopting a mother Springer Spaniel Age 4 and taking one of her pups She will retire as a breed dog and I will have her fixed. Would it be better to take
a male pup with her or a female pup?  Would it matter if
she had a pup and does the sex matter.  Thanks

Answer
Dear Laurie,

Thanks for the questions. It wouldn't matter if she had the pup or the pup was from another litter.

In general, opposite sex, canine playmates get along better than same sex playmates. That does not mean that two females or two males can't be the best of friends, it's just that the majority of reported and documented, same house, inter-dog aggression cases involve two dogs of the same
sex - not necessarily a overwhelming majority, but a majority nonetheless. If I were you and had a choice, I would get the male pup.

Happy Thanksgiving!
