Question

Carrot at the lake - i
Why?

My dog "Carrot" is a indoor outdoor dog, Husky / Lab  mix.  We keep him fairly clean, bath every few weeks or month and he is very active outside - running around the lake with other buddies, swims in the summer etc...
We got Carrot from the pound about 2 years ago at age 6 months.  He is very healthy and has regular checkups with all his shots.  He rolls in dead snakes, squirrels, rodents etc... all year long and has since we got him.

Why?

Thank you for the help - he is really stinky right now.

Answer
Hi, Jake,

Thanks for the question. Has Carrot ever met a cat named Lettuce? He lives in Santa Fe.

Anyway, it's an interesting question. The most generally accepted answer is that rolling in dead things masks a wolf's scent from his prey, making it easier to sneak up on them, and that dogs retain that instinct even though they no longer hunt for a living.
