Question
A year ago we got our cat Mystique. She is now 1 yr and a few months, female, spayed, clawed. She is an inside cat, so, she doesn't get the exercise she needs. We decided to get a kitten in the hopes she would have a friend. The kitten is female as well. 2months old, spayed and clawed. We know we have to separate them the 1st couple days till they got used to each other. Saturday will be a week since we've had Jubilee. My question is: How can we make the introduction process easier? I don't want to let them "fight' out the Top Cat issues and I don't want the little one to be terrorized every day either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I love both of them and couldn't bear giving one up.

Answer
Hello Tessa!

Oh, don't worry...I would never ask you to give away your baby!  Everything has a solution.

So, first let me ask...how do you have them separated?  Who is in what space, and what spaces are they?

Have you seen them making any attempt at contact, like playing under the door?

Since it's been about a week, you should be able to start giving them a bit of time per day until you see them getting along fine.  They might never be little snugglebuds, but they should be able to be around each other just fine.

So, let me know about those things, so I can better know the situation and how things are going.  :o)

Hugs to you guys!!  :o)
