Lost pet?

Question
Hi again Rosie,

Sorry should have mentioned that to you. Tigger had a problem, very minor with her kidneys developing crystals in them, basically like a person with kidney stones, but it was controlled with her food I had her on for years now.I should mention that we moved from cape breton island to edmonton last october and kept her in the house for the first six months, and she was ALWAYS an OUTDOOR cat, but I was scared for traffic etc... so it took me that long before I could let her go out, I knew she loved it so much and had to let her go, she done soooooooo well for two months before she disappeared, layed on the swing in the yard, came in and out on her own, explored for an hour or so, always came home... I guess you catch the drift... Had to bring her to the vet about five months as she was peeing all over the house which she NEVER did before and she began drinking with her paw in the water dish which she never done, so the vet done a series of tests on her and ended up giving her an antibiotic, assuming it was a problem with her teeth, possibly infection, bad tooth,etc... reasoning for her drinking with her paw... other than that Tigger was quite the TIGER, strong, agile cat, no problems the evening she walked out my patio door at all, and trust me I am the type person that pays alot of mind to those issues on a daily basis kind of thing. So thats about it in general, she was doing great going outside in our new area etc... then all of a sudden just GONE, some ppl in the area say they spotted her from the Lost Posters we put up but we followed up on that every day/night going out walking and calling her a few times a day.Wsh I knew what REALLY happened to my dear sweet Tigger, I love her and miss her so much. Im so sure you get so many emails, this is so hard to try and figure, right now I am assuming Tigger got hit by a car or somthing but we checked the pound and NOTHING there either, confused so bad here. Anyway so sorry for going on so long, I just miss and love her so much. Thanks so much for your kindness and concern. Bonnie.

Hi,

I have a 16 year old spayed female cat, who seemed to have disappeared a week ago. We moved to a different province about 9 months ago, but only started letting her go outside 2 months ago. She seemed to be doing great, would jump the fence, explore for a little while and come back home. We let her out a week ago and she never came home. We put Lost Cat posters up and in mailboxes in our area, we are in a Court with probably 50 or more fourplexes in it, so it is quite a large area. We got two phone calls from people almost next door to each other on the total opposite side of where we live telling us that our cat was on their step in the early am. We would go and look but by the time we arrived she had gone. We have been walking and calling her for days to no avail. She had done this for five days years back but she was young then. Is there any reasonable explanation for why she would just up and leave like this, is it territorial behavior? I am very confused as we are patrolling the neighborhood endlessly trying to find her with no luck yet.Is it possible that she CANT find her way back, it really isnt that far? She has a great home with lots of love and attention, I dont understand why she hasnt returned home yet. Any information or help would be so greatly appreciated, I dont know how to get her to come back.

Hello Bonnie!

Let me ask you...did your kitty have any health issues at all?

I will write more when I know how she was before she went outside.  I don't want to say anything that might not be the case before I hear from you.

Until then, hugs to you both.  I know how heart-breaking it is to lose a pet, and hopefully I can help you in figuring out what happened.

Hugs to you,

Rosie*

Answer
Aww, Bonnie, I feel for you!!  I've had it happen before that my kitty was gone for a week or more, and came back.  It's nice to hear from another kitty lover that has as much love for their baby as I do for mine.  We're a rare bunch, let me tell ya!

I'm so sorry you're going through this, and I really wish I had more ideas for you, but you've really covered the bases in the posters, calling the pound, walking around and calling her name, etc.  You're obviously such a caring and kind person.

I wish there were more I can do for you in your situation, but I can at least send you my love and warm thoughts.  Please keep me updated as to how things progress, okay?  I'll keep you and Tigger in my thoughts and prayers...

Much love and hugs,

Rosie*
