jealous cat

I have 3 cats, 2 males and one female.  The two males are brothers-one of which has become extremely affectionate and jealous of the other cats.  Anytime I go to pet one of the other cats, he cuts in and makes it difficult for me to show them any affection.  This has not affected my female cat, but his brother has started shying away from me.  I try to go out of my way to give him attention, but the other always tries to cut in or he just walks away and acts disinterested in me.  He used to be extremely affectionate toward me as well, but has become more and more distant as his brother has become more and more affectionate and jealous.  Do you have any recommendations on what I can do to gain his affections back?

Well, it is nice to be in such demand! Find an activity that is specifically enjoyed by him and that will be his special time with you away alone from the other animals. (do it for all of them, the female too)
The one kitty cutting in is very common and very often the original kitty walks off. They arent taking it out on you they just need to feel special.
I'll give you some examples of how i deal with it. One always buts in when the other is over for affection, so i play fetch with the one "butted out" with hair bands. He loves the game of fetch and is the only kitty in the house that will play that game. He becomes extra affectionate with that game. So i give him that special time. I also have an elder resident kitty that gets to sleep in my room at night, i take her in foyer to explore with me or other places while the other cats sleep.
Unique activities that the cat enjoys that you share alone with them is the key. Do it while the other sleeps or take him into a room alone with you.

If this fails, there is a visualization technique to communicate with the animals that the shamans use, you get yourself into a very meditative state. You must not be disturbed or jarred from this state so do it when you have quiet time.
If you do not believe in this type of work i ask you to respect it and do not randomly give out to people.
State your intention 3 times which will be to invite your kitty 'name' to a closer intimacy.
Do ten 7 second inhalations accompanied by ten 7 second exhalations to start. Visualize yourself going into what they call the "lower or under world" where nature flourishes. In their minds eye some travel on horseback... picture your kitty with you on your journey.
Some people travel there from a tree but you must see yourself go through a tunnel to reach this magical place where nature abounds. On your "journey" see, smell and hear sights, pay attention, make note of things as your imagination takes hold. When you arrive in this world, let your imagination take in the sights and communicate your wishes with your cat. Give visual mental images to your kitty.
After you have completed see yourself and your cat come back the same way you entered this sacred space/place.
If you believe and commit to it, I promise kitty will feel a difference. Only use this for sacred time. This is not something intended for animal manipulation or dark intention but a way to center yourself and create a place where kitty can understand your intention clearly. It may only be used for positive intentions full of light.  Cats are animals are extraordinarily sensitive and when we control our brainwaves there is a way to connect with them more succinctly.
