Question
Hi!

I have 3 cats. Recently one of my cats wen to the vet for a urinary infection. He has crystals and is on antibiotics for it and my vet said that I need to swith over to wet food for the cats. 2 of the cats seems to eating it a little, slowly getting used to it.. The 3rd cat just looks at it, smells it, and then scrathes at the floor like he is trying to bury it. I don't know what to do because the vet said that they should be eating wet from now on and I can't just feed him the dry because the others will be all over it too. Right now I am feeding Iams... I only tried 2 flavors but he did it to both.. I am on a budget so I can't afford very expensive food and also would like to know what is a good ammount to feed them of it.. I used to give them about 1 cup of dry food and leave it for all 3 the whole day.. PLEASE HELP ASAP... The poor little guy is not eating...

Thanks!

Answer
Iams isn't the tastiest food out there for cats. A lot of cat owners tell me their cat refuses to eat it (dry or wet)
Also feeding 3 cats Iams is going to really put a dent in your budget.  My cat refuses to eat the chunks and just licks the gravy - another problem you might encounter.
Did you make a sudden switch to wet food? Maybe if you made a slow change they would like it better. Start by
adding a little wet food to the dry food (mix it up)
little by little until eventually they are eating all wet
and no dry. (over the course of a week, say)

9 Lives, Friskies, Meow Mix pouch or canned food seems to taste good.
Even Special Kitty walmart brand. The smellier the better
If it smells strong/gross to you they will probably like it
Tempting flavors include liver, turkey and giblets, and of course seafood.

If your one cat refuses to eat wet food.. put him in the
bedroom and shut the door with his dry food until he's
finished eating and then put it up so the others won't run
to it

Another way to get cats to drink more is this. Leave your
tub (or a sink) faucet drip very lightly (doesn't have to be a lot) and they will love it! You can even leave a dish
under it to catch the water if they like to drink out of it
Cats are attracted to running water

I don't like the pet water fountains..they are expensive..
and if you don't dunk them in bleach water and do a very very good job of cleaning it every single day...bacteria/mold will grow in little corners and after several days of not cleaning, the water will get slimy
and your cats won't drink it
But if you do want to try a pet fountain and you are
willing to keep it clean as a whistle, they will love it too

..putting a dish out of bottled water (not distilled - it tastes weird) may be good too

thanks for the question
