Over energised brothers

Question
In December,we adopted two brother kittens when they were 8 weeks old. They are great loving affectionate kittens and we love them. The issue we are having is that they play... HARD!!! Running like wildfire, jumping on tables and furniture and US at 3 in the morning!! Up the stairs and down the stairs almost racing they are so fast. Now we have several toys and things to play with but that doesn't seem to be enough for them. As of yet they are not fixed. We are planning on this. Will this calm them down? At what age do we have them fixed and should we crate them at night until they are fixed? Any advise would be graetly appreaciated. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Dana,

Welcome to the world of kittens. I have to smile because I have been there before. Yes, neutering will help them calm down. Also, what I do is tire them out before bedtime. I use a toy called the Cricket. Basically it is a laser pointer. Cats love chasing the red dot. Just make sure you don't shine it in their eyes.
The biggest thing that will calm them down is time. As they get older they won't be tearing up the house like that. They still will play but less and less as they grow older. Just like us. :) Let me know how it works out. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
