Proper time to give away a cat

Hi Ali.  I currently have seven 3-week old kittens and want to know when is the best time to give them away.  Is it true that you should not give them away after 3 months because they have tendency to run away? Thanks in advance!

In general it is widely accepted that kittens should not be separated from their mom before 8 weeks old. I tend to think that 12 weeks old is a better time to find kittens new homes, because their mom has more of a chance to teach the kittens what being a cat is about...Might also want to consider spaying mom after she weans her babies to prevent having 7 more babies in a couple of months. I would suggest that you keep mom indoors as she can become pregnant while she is nursing in spite of any myths that you have heard. Hopefully that answers your question.
