Question
HOW DO YOU KEEP ANIMALS OUT OF YOUR POND, MY NEIGHBORS DOG KEEPS JUMPING IN IT AND KNOCKING OVER OUR PUMP AND PLANTS, IM AFRAID HE IS GOING TO KILL MY FISH OR CAUSE MY PUMP TO BURN UP? ALSO DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON KEEPING THE ALGE DOWN? I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP

Answer
Hello Jill!
It is not easy to keep a dog out - but, really, your neighbor is responsible for that (and for the damages caused by the dog).
I understand that it is sometimes difficult to enforce this type of thing while keeping good relations with neighbors at the same time. You can try to make it somewhat unpleasant for the dog to visit:
a) sprinkle a generous dose of chili pepper all around (but NOT IN) the pond.
b) plant prickly plants around the pond
c) spray him with a forceful garden hose when he gets close to the pond.

Your question regarding algae: That is a somewhat lengthy and involved subject that would take too much time to cover here, HOWEVER...we have a FREE e-booklet (I believe it is called "Basic Pond Care") that you can download free of charge at www.pondmarket.com that should go a long way in helping to keep the pond looking pretty!
Best regards
